Avenue HQ

Avenue HQ was founded by Matthew Kennedy and Karl Connolly to innovate collaborative workspaces in which businesses work alongside one another.

The location of their first site at Mann Island on the Liverpool Waterfront involved cultivating a creative space within an industrial setting and required a transformation befitting the vision. Aztec worked with the Avenue HQ team (Matthew Kennedy, Karl Connolly and Luke Roberts) to transform the empty shell and create a multi-functional working environment to foster creativity and encourage enterprise. Aztec oversaw the full design and build, coordinating and employing Day Architecture to develop the design.

The project covered the whole footprint of Mann Island and involved various structural feats overcome by William Jones and Partners. The bare concrete structure with double height space required a cantilever raised deck to avoid fixing to the curtain walling and to create acoustic and fire seal. Aztec provided all the construction and fitout services required, and overcame a series of logistical challenges, including keeping services live to tenants on floors above.
