King’s Walk
Due to a failure in the United Utilities sewer saturating the retained soil, this retaining wall collapsed, leaving the single storey outrigger at peril due to its proximity to the collapsed wall and constructed on balanced raft. Aztec were invited to provide a rapid response to pile/underpin the outrigger to stabilize the structure and shore the retained soil in its temporary condition whilst a new retaining wall was designed. We built a permanent shutter, in blockwork, in sections shoring as work proceeded. We installed a French drain behind the new wall to avoid any potential saturation in the future and proceeded to construct a new RC retaining wall in vertical sections…tried and tested technique. The RC wall was then brick clad and the upper and lower levels landscaped.
