EMQN

EMQN is a globally respected authority in molecular diagnostics and a leader in human molecular pathology and genomic testing. Located on a single floorplate within Building ICE at Exchange Quay, their new fit-out was designed to support a team of over 30 staff. The space includes two private offices, a meeting room, and a generous boardroom. Merging the clinical precision of laboratory environments with a softer, more grounded office aesthetic, the design promotes everyday collaboration while reflecting EMQN’s scientific excellence.

Aztec worked in partnership with renowned design studio Jasper Sanders and Partners to create this transformational space. EMQN wanted to create a support culture of collaboration along with client engagement. The breakout space centrally is the hub of the office, with private meeting rooms and booths beyond this space. The laboratories were designed for practicality and hygiene at their core. Featuring wipeable surfaces, automated systems, and a layout optimised for efficient, process-led workflows, the space supports stringent infection control measures and upholds the highest standards of performance.

Jasper Sanders focused on the brands cool blue’s subtly introducing these tones in the workspace balancing this with natural materials and warm peach tones. The double Helix EMQN’s identity inspired the creative lighting features along with an organic sense of rhythm in the space.
The result is a carefully considered environment that reflects the scientific precision of EMQN’s work, while supporting comfort, collaboration, and connection in everyday use.
