Commercial and Industrial work space experts, Aztec has appointed Colin Clayton as Contracts Manager, as part of the firms ongoing growth and expansions plans, on the back of a successful three years that has seen turnover grow 20% year on year, reaching £7million in 2023.
Colin joins the senior management team following a company buyout in 2021, a significant turning point for the business which has seen a shift in focus operationally, strategically and culturally.
Greater emphasis on the fit out and M&E aspects of the business, ably supported by the construction arm, has led to clients choosing Aztec as a one stop shop, managing every aspect of a commercial project incorporating design, construction, fit out and furnishing’s with repeat business a driving force in the firms success.
The firm is now owned solely by Iain Peacock, Tony Pyper and Dave Pennington, all of whom have been part of the company for many years. Iain explained: “We’re incredibly pleased with the continued reach of the business and the growth within our sector across the North West.
“Clients are looking to us more and more to deliver a full scope of works but also to advise and collaborate on what makes a modern office space, what employees want from their working environment, and what ultimately will enhance productivity. These are all areas in which we own extensive knowledge and expertise, and this has undoubtedly helped us in our growth.
“Colin coming on board is a real coup as he is one of the best within this particular discipline. He will lead the furniture team, collaborating with more suppliers and distributors, as well as delivering fit out projects, presenting ideas to clients that really do match the brief.
“The new Aztec not only has not only had a shift in direction strategically but a cultural shift internally. The Directors are fully hands on, technically competent with a real player manager approach. We are a happy and unified team that operate as an extended family, and whilst we aim to continue on this growth path, we don’t want to lose this momentum and feel.”
Colin has worked in the interiors and fit out business for over 25 years. He added: “For me personally, it’s so important to be in tune with a changing market and to understand what is available, and how furniture can work in an office setting and what the right choices can mean to a work space.
“After lock down, there has been a huge shift in how a person wants to work, where they feel most comfortable, how much time they want to spend in the office – no one wants to sit behind a desk for eight hours each day. However, with more and more people keen to come back to the workplace, from an employer perspective, it’s about creating an environment that stimulates productivity. This is where Aztec really shine – in helping clients create a working environment that’s best for them and their team.
“Now is really exciting time for the company and its great to be part of the journey.”
